Trans Representative – Trans Rep

Qualifications:

Any person who is 18 years or older, whose gender is not the same as, or does not sit comfortably with, the sex they were assigned at birth.

Expectations:

This board position affords the Trustee with the opportunity to guide HLP's education and public awareness efforts towards current issues of importance for the Trans community. The Trustee is expected to bring or develop leadership skills and become a mentor for others in this Identity Group. The Trans Rep is expected to offer guidance, education, and open discussions to help LGBQ+ persons better understand what friends and family need to do, and how to (re)act, to maintain support and love, and offer affirmation to someone transitioning. The Trans Rep is also expected to guide open discussions and propose education for others at the beginning of their gender identity journey. Furthermore, the Trans Rep is expected to implement and improve education that LGBQ+ persons need to overcome cultural expectations of "passing" gender identities and assumed pronouns. HLP recognizes the duality the Trans Rep has in this leadership role for those in this Identity Group while serving the ambassadorial role to everyone else.
